- 12 cups cubed day-old bread (French or sourdough)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup finely chopped onions
- 1 cup finely chopped celery
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon dried sage
- 1 tablespoon dried thyme
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 2–3 cups low-sodium chicken or vegetable broth
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spread cubed bread on a baking sheet and toast until golden (10-15 minutes).
- In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Sauté onions and celery until softened (about 5 minutes). Add garlic, sage, thyme, salt, and pepper; cook for another minute.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine toasted bread with sautéed vegetables. Gradually add broth until moistened; fold in beaten eggs.
