Infused with fresh orange zest and studded with plump cranberries, these tender scones are topped with a sweet citrus glaze that adds a burst of brightness to your day. Easy to prepare and sure to impress, they make a charming addition to any gathering or cozy morning at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 8 tablespoons unsalted butter (cold)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream (cold)
  • 1 large egg (cold)
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1 cup fresh cranberries
  • For the glaze: 1 cup powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. In another bowl, combine cream, egg, and orange zest. Add to dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  4. Fold in cranberries gently. Turn dough onto floured surface and shape into an 8-inch round disk (about 1 inch thick).
  5. Cut into 8 wedges and place on the baking sheet with space between each scone. Brush tops with cream.
  6. Bake for 15-18 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
  7. While baking, prepare the glaze by mixing powdered sugar with orange juice until smooth.
  8. Cool scones briefly on the sheet before transferring to a wire rack. Drizzle with glaze before serving.
